Support before a diagnosis
Not every support route starts with a formal diagnosis. Requirements differ, so check the details for each support.
Children's health services
The HSE states that an Assessment of Need is not required to access children's disability services, although a referral is required. A parent can use the children's services referral process.

Preschool
AIM says its targeted preschool supports are based on the needs of the child and do not require a diagnosis of disability.
School
Talk to the school about the child's needs and contact the assigned SENO for information about special education supports and transitions. Requirements differ by support, so do not assume every school support is diagnosis-free.
